About
It’s always hard from me to not write a complete novel in these sections. As I find my story to be much greater to tell than just words on a screen describing myself & circumstances.
I’ll try my best to be short & sweet. University of Kentucky grad w/ B.A. in Journalism w/ concentration in Multimedia. Wrote for my college paper, ran my former music site. Blogger, reviewer, previewer, photographer, videographer, designer, your literal all-in-one gal.
My heart is in Ohio. For real. While in Cincinnati, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to many respectable national entertainment online publications (see links here).
More recently, I’ve made the typical jump into the PR/Marketing/Social Media side of thing’s.
It’s no secret that I wholeheartedly adore all thing’s music (literally all I talk about). Always at a gig or supporting in some way. After attending so many shows as a music journalist, I wanted to continue to push myself & expand. It made sense that my next big step in the music world would be representing musicians, hence Midwest Rising PR was born. Quickly took on publicist, booker & eventual manager role for the noteable pop-rock 513 iconic staple, BoyMeetsWorld.
After 4 years of endless grueling non-stop hours, countless regional tours, national show placements (like sold-out shows with legends like The Maine & Mayday Parade!), multiple Warped Tours (RIP); with so many cherishable moments, memories & lifelong friendships formed, it was unfortunately time to pursue other ventures.
Now, I still help the underdogs on a freelance basis. Pushing driven entrepreneurs, startups & local small businesses that share my same passion. Creatively assisting others with everything from promotional campaigns, graphic + website design, branding consultant, social media management etc. Couldn’t be happier spreading wonderful products, brands & services to the masses. Seeing them succeed & take flight gives me endless smiles, knowing I had a hand in their upward positive journey.
In addition to my social media clients, in early 2017, I graciously accepted the role of MDA Cincinnati’s Local Ambassador. Advocating, fundraising & spreading awareness about those affected by neuromuscular diseases. I extended my role to 2018 & 2019. Helping out on an as-needed basis for the Cincy branch.
Experiencing how truly rewarding it is to work in the non-profit sector & finallly getting my exact genetic diagnosis confirmation just a few short years ago, I stumbled upon Cure CMD. It’s an organization specifically uplifting those affected by a congenital muscular dystrophy. They do so much good for so many in need & are truly motivated to seek treatments & improve the lives of those living with CMD. They so graciously welcomed me to their team with open arms in June 2020 as an Outreach & Engagement Coordinator. It’s been a literal honor & dream position.
My spare time is also spent taking photos of anything & everything. Mostly travel, flowers in every form or live music related, keep up w/ my Instagram for the latest!
Much love, always xoxo <3 Kelly.
